LIBS set-up (image downloaded from www.andor-tech.com).
The plasma is excited by a Nd:YAG laser while optical emission from the plasma is collected using a quartz optical fiber connected to entrance slit of an echelle spectrograph (Andor Mechelle 5000). The deterctor is a gateable intensified CCD Andor iStar camera, with a built-in delay generator. Acquisition is performed using the Andor Solis software package, while timing electronics is home made.
← 1024x1024 echelle picture, acquired collecting light from a calibration Hg/Ar lamp.
The white brigth spot in the bottom part of the image corresponds to the Hg emission line at 253.7 nm.
